  • Dr Simon Gordon Joseph
    MB. ChB. VUManc. 1991 DRCOG. MRCGP
    Dr Simon Joseph is originally from Birmingham but studied medicine at the University of Manchester. After qualifying as a GP in 1995, he worked as a locum for several years in both Manchester and London before becoming a partner in the practice in 2001.
  • Dr Carlie Gardner
    MBBS 2011 University of London
    Dr Gardner was born and bred in Salford. She has been a partner at Newbury Green Medical Practice for 3 years and is also Clinical Director of Broughton Primary Care Network. She is passionate about tackling health inequalities. Her clinical interests include mental health, women’s health, paediatrics and lifestyle medicine.
  • Dr Lucy Spurrell
    Dr Spurrell is from Manchester and graduated from the University of Manchester in 2013. She qualified as a GP in 2018 and became a GP partner in 2021. She has a clinical qualification in obstetrics and gynaecology and is our training and safeguarding lead.
  • Dr Michael Starkie
    MB ChB 2014 The University of Warwick
    Dr Michael Starkie is originally from Bolton in Greater Manchester. He qualified as a doctor from the University of Warwick in 2014. He did his foundation training in Scarbough and Hull and completed his GP training in Bolton. He became a GP in August 2019 he joined the practice soon after and has recently become a partner.
  • Dr Sharon Shapiro
    MBchB University of Manchester 2008, DRCOG 2016
    Dr Shapiro finished her GP training in August 2019. In May 2022 she joined Newbury Green Medical Practice, where she is in on Mondays and Thursdays. She really enjoys being a GP and the variety that comes with it. She also works part time as a GP in Blackley and frequently as a GP at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital A&E. She has also previously worked at North Manchester General Hospital and with Bardoc.
  • Dr Jonny Chernick

    MBChB 2016, MRCGP LLM (Dist.)
    Dr Chernick grew up in Liverpool, moving across to Manchester for his medical studies. After graduating in 2016, he worked for a few years in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Central Manchester. He undertook his GP training programme in Tameside and joined Newbury Green Medical Practice shortly after completion. His interests include mental health, medical education and medical law, and outside of the practice he examines for the General Medical Council and local medical schools
